Our Name. Our Mission. Our Vision.
Needs are everywhere in our city. From devastated infrastructure and shuttered schools, to food insecurity and chronic joblessness. The people and their place are bent, folded, lonely, tired, yet determined. And the work of Hope Exchange continues to take shape in Jackson through the wisdom of God and the generosity of His people. We are for this city.
We surround people with love and support that breaks a fall, alleviates suffering, equips people with skills and tools for thriving -- all in a way that grants dignity, promotes initiative, and meets felt needs.
We are all about promoting hope -- and sharing it across the table with our neighbors.
Emily Dickinson describes hope this way:
“Hope” is the thing with feathers -
That perches in the soul -
And sings the tune without the words -
And never stops -- at all -
Her timeless picture of winged, melodic, and unceasing presence helps explain the power of our work in promoting healing relationships in our wonderfully needy city. We have come to let the bird out of the cage, so to speak, to tune our souls to one another, to assemble an orchestra conducted by the King Eternal. As Paul says in Romans 5:5: “Hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.”
Hope Exchange is our name. Imagine people from all walks of life who come together to support one another, swap stories of God’s provision, and thus raise the collective value of our community. Hope is a divine lasso that binds my heart to God’s reality. Hope is a fireplace on a cold day. Hope is a story that reminds me I’m not alone. Hope is specialized knowledge to navigate complicated systems. Hope is a guide and company for a long journey.

Hope Exchange is working to see relationships healed and our city made new! All of our programs help people in their relationship with God, with themselves, with others, and with the world, including their work and finances. When people experience healing in these 4 areas, our city benefits, lives are transformed, and hope abounds.
How does it all work? First, we connect people in supportive and transformative relationships -- often across typical dividing lines. Second, we engage in the real issues that make living in this fallen world difficult, including the range of struggles that especially affect people who experience poverty. Third, we support and celebrate the restoration that occurs when people begin to walk in God’s design for human flourishing.
Hope Exchange: Connect. Engage. Restore.
